Zero Waste Marin Mill pilot program
What is Mill
Mill provides an effortless — and odorless — way to keep your kitchen clean, while helping Marin County keep organics out of landfills. The Mill food recycler shrinks your food scraps by 80%, works while you sleep, and turns them into nutrient-rich grounds that can be easily emptied into your Zero Waste Marin compost bin. The best part? It takes weeks to fill, which means fewer trips to the curb.
Why Marin is piloting Mill
Mill is an alternative to standard kitchen compost pails for collecting food scraps in-home. Zero Waste Marin is evaluating if food recyclers help to increase participation in composting food scraps. *Inclusion of Mill products in this pilot program does not constitute an endorsement by Zero Waste Marin.
Who qualifies
Up to 125 Marin residents and organizations will receive a free Mill food recycler. Participants will be asked to complete surveys about their experience to help Zero Waste Marin understand the effectiveness of the pilot program. To qualify, participants must meet one of the following criteria:
1) Earn less than $125,000 annually for a household of 2, or less than $148,000 for a household of 4; OR
2) Be a non-profit organization serving Marin.
